Pastoral Job Description
Jan 2012 Church of the Open Bible is an evangelical, Bible-believing, Christ-centered church. As the name of our church suggests, Church of the Open Bible seeks to be a church that reads the Word, lives the Word, and shares the Word. It was established in 1962 and is located in semi-rural Southeastern PA. We currently have an attendance of 80-100 people. Our Pastor of the last eight years left in March 2011 following God’s call, leaving the church in a healthy condition. We are seeking God’s direction in leading us to our next pastor. The desired candidate must have a deep love for Christ, be a man of study and prayer, and demonstrate a Godly example by his actions and words. He also must be a man who has a heart for God and His people, not only as a preacher, but a shepherd as well. He must be in agreement with our Constitution and By‑laws. He will have the ability to effectively communicate the Word in a way that applies it to the daily lives of the congregation. He must work well with members of all ages, have the ability to lead and, with the help of the congregation, encourage believers and welcome newcomers. He must be confident of his calling and be committed to seeing God's people equipped and growing in their walk with God. His qualifications should include a Bible College or Seminary degree, strong oral and communicative skills, a consistent prayer life, and a passion to reach the lost in the surrounding community. If you feel God calling you here and agree with our constitution and by‑laws, please submit your resume to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
